„Beauty through my eyes“ has been the working title of an exchange-project run by German and Sudanese artists, which intended to investigate questions of collaboration as well as the conception and recognition of art. The poles that encounter within this were the utmost differences in political concepts, culture, religion, ethnics, gender roles and the particular family and personal backgrounds. We wonder, whether human ways of dealing with the global and cross-border problems of 21stcentury can be found, proved and visualized by an artistic process. The intense encounter of the group sets the beginning. By critical consultation, phrasing and shaping step by step a group-artwork will be generated. The single engagement is enforced and the associate with each other gains respectfulness by the process and by the visual success.. The single works which are created at the same time make the diversity of artistic possibilities visible and emphasize individuality. For the first part of the project three German artists travelled to Khartoum in order to work conjointly with artists of the Sudanese Plastic Artists Union. For the second part in Karlsruhe three of seven invited African artists travelled to Karlsruhe. Those artists, who did not receive their visa, were involved into the process and the exhibition by the support of internet and reproduction. The ideas of “beauty through my eyes” were dealing with the fact, that the general perception of Sudan, as well as other Arabic countries, is infested with war-stories, news about catastrophes and the past-9/11-negative-images of radical islamistic determinations. Because we were convinced that this prospect is given due to political calculus, our will and try was to create a positive and human image that also exists there. Meanwhile Tribe of artists in collaborative terms seems to be the concept, that’s more close to what we are heading for. Collaborative artwork intends foiling the idea of the single genuine art star. Instead we are showing that a joint work can be even more powerful, especially with artists from different countries, cultures and political backgrounds. The short version “T.act” also contains the word “act”. With this relevance we express our independence on political and social borders, by phrasing out the true causation of contempt of human rights. We are linking with activists in these fields. The next project we will do conjointly is to participate at Stockholm Supermarket Art Fair.

“Beauty through my eyes” war der Arbeitstitel eines Austauschprojektes, das von deutschen und sudanesischen Künstlern veranstaltet wurde, und dessen Absicht es war, Fragen nach Zusammenarbeit als auch Einstellung und Wahrnehmung von Kunst zu untersuchen. Die Pole, die dabei aufeinander trafen waren die enormen Unterschiede innerhalb der politischen Konzepte, Kultur, Religion, ethnischer Zugehörigkeit, Geschlechterrollen und den einzelnen persönlichen und familiären Hintergründen. Die intensive Begegnung innerhalb der Gruppe macht den Anfang. Durch kritische Untersuchungen, Verbalisierung und Formgebung entsteht Schritt für Schritt ein Gruppen-Kunstwerk. Das Engagement des Einzelnen wird bestärkt und die Gemeinschaft gewinnt untereinander an Respekt durch das Voranschreiten des Prozesses und dessen Sichtbarkeit. Für den ersten Teil des Projektes reisten 3 deutsche Künstler nach Khartoum, umd dort mit Künstlern der Sudanese Plastic Artists Union gemeinsam ein Kunstwerk zu erstellen. Für den zweiten Teil in Karlsruhe kamen 3 von sieben eingeladenen Afrikanern angereist. Die Künstler, die kein Visa erhielten waren am Prozess und an der Ausstellung durch die Unterstützung von Internet und durch Reproduktionen beteiligt. (Hier klicken für Katalog-Download) Die Ideen von “Beauty through my eyes” gingen um die Tatsache, dass die allgemeine Wahrnehmung des Sudans als auch anderer arabischer Länder, durch Kriegsgeschichten, Katastrophen und ein Post-9/11-Negative-Image von radikalen Islamisten geprägt ist. Weil wir davon überzeugt sind, dass diese Sichtweise ein politisches Kalkül ist, war es unser Wille und der Versuch, ein positives und menschliches Bild zu vermitteln, von dem wir meinen, dass es dort genauso existiert wie hier. Inzwischen erscheint uns Tribe of artists in collaborative terms näher an der Idee zu sein, für die wir einstehen. Gemeinschaftskunstwerke durchkreuzen die Idee des genialen Kunst-Stars. Anstelle dessen zeigen sie, dass eine gemeinschaftlich entstandene Arbeit sogar viel mehr Wirkung haben kann, ,vor allem vor dem Hintergrund, dass daran Künstler aus verschiedenen Länder, Kulturen und politischen Systemen beteiligt sind. T“act“ enthalt auch das Wort „act“. Mit diesem Bezug drücken wir unsere Unabhängigkeit gegenüber politischen und sozialen Begrenzungen aus und können so den wahren Grund für die Missachtung von Menschenrechten ausdrücken. Wir sind dafür mit Aktivisten auf diesem Gebiet in Verbindung. Das nächste Projekt, das wir gemeinsam angehen woollen, wird die Teilnahme an der Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm sein.
